Including the Gold Eddy for "Best Feature"!

“The Wedge”, Backrow Studios’ second feature length film, won three awards at the Cedar Rapids Film Fest. These include “Best Feature,” the “Iowa Connection” award (The Iowa Connection Award is given each year to the film that best portrays the state’s physical beauty and the strong spirit of its people), and Studio4 Productions provided an indiSLIDERmini dolly device and a CERBERUS shoulder mount to a filmmaker whose work the judges deemed especially skillful and creative but who they believed could most benefit from the gift of a professional filmmaker’s tools.

Congrats to everyone involved!

Be apart of Backrow Studios' third feature length film!

CASTING CALL FOR FEATURE FILM

University of Iowa Alumni, Joe Clarke, Ravi Patel and Tim Nash’s new film project THE FORMULA will be holding open auditions in Cedar Rapids, IA during the second weekend in April.

Project: The Formula-Romantic Comedy

Casting Date/Time/Location: April 14-15, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Fairfield Inn, 605 32nd Ave SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404

Contact: Backrow Studios LLC, 2520 Meadowbrook CT SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, 319/531-6324, tim@backrowstudios.com

Please contact to schedule an audition. Scheduled auditions will be held from 12:00-2:30 PM Saturday and Sunday, Walk-Ins will audition from 2:30-5:00 PM.

Audition tapes will be accepted please mail to: ATTN: Tim Nash, Backrow Studios LLC, 2520 Meadowbrook CT SE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404.

Or email the videos to tim@backrowstudios.com

THE FORMULA is the third feature length film to be made by director/producer team Joe Clarke and Tim Nash and the first effort in the role of executive producer for Ravi Patel. THE FORMULA is the story of Quinn and Graham, two engineering students who discover a mathematical formula that allows them to pick up women with ease. Quinn is a hopeless romantic who falls head over heels for a young student teacher. Graham is a chauvinistic womanizer who thinks the key to finding the woman of his dreams is by sleeping with as many as possible. As THE FORMULA follows Quinn and Graham from one women’s bed to the next, they discover that there is no shortcut to finding that one true love.

Initial filming is tentatively scheduled to begin May 26-27. Filming will continue primarily on weekends (a small amount of filming will take place during the week depending on cast and crew’s schedules) throughout the summer. Please supply the producers of the film with a rough schedule for the summer May 26-27 through August 25-26. It is noted that schedules are not set in stone but potential cast members should be prepared to commit to the schedules submitted. Most filming will take place in the region between Cedar Rapids and Iowa City with some on location shooting outside this general area with select cast and crew.

All roles are unpaid but The Formula LLC will handle feeding of cast and crew during shooting as well as room and board if needed. Travel expenses will also be covered on a case by case basis. While roles are unpaid, cast and crew can expect the film to be screened at multiple film festivals with a strong possibility for sale and distribution. Backrow Studios has signed a contract for sales and distribution with production house Entertainment 7 for their first feature length film Kung Fu Graffiti. Their second feature The Wedge is about to hit the film festival circuit and has already garnered interest from multiple production houses and distribution companies.

THE FORMULA is currently casting for the following roles:

Quinn – Lead role, mid 20’s engineering student, anxious to find love. Quinn is an old school romantic who loves the idea of grand romantic gestures. Extremely intelligent, quite charming,

Amy — Stern nursing student, 22, knows what she wants, love interest of Graham. Loves hanging out with him, but doesn’t want to be more than a friend with benefits relationship.

Trent – College drinking buddy of the main characters. On the surface, he doesn’t want to be held down by the commitments of a relationship, but deep down he longs for a steady relationship. Thinks he’s better with women than he actually is.

Daryl – Trent’s partner in crime, 37 years old, haggard but thinks he’s living the life as a single partying college student.

Maxine — Whiney, anxious friend of T.J., she wants to leave the bar in a hurry to go see a friend.

Pretty College Student – She’s hit on by Graham to no avail.

20-something: Attractive, early twenties female whom Quinn hits on. Not interested in him.

Bride to Be — She is swept away by Graham’s charm, leaves her fiancé in a matter of minutes for him.
